Terms of sale and website use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
1. About these terms
1.1 These terms apply when you use any of our websites or apps (each called "this website or app" in these terms), or order through them or through any other ordering page the Ordering Provider (see 1.2) runs for us, from George's ("we", "us"), operated by MEB Foods Ltd, 6 The Parade, Blacon, CH1 5HN, Blacon, Chester, CH1 5HN. Contact: georgeschippy@gmail.com, 01244 372878.
1.2 Your contract for your order is with us only. This website or app and our online ordering system are operated using technology provided by a third-party ordering provider (the "Ordering Provider"). The Ordering Provider isn't the seller of our products, isn't a party to your order, and isn't responsible for our food, service, prices, delivery, refunds or other obligations to you as the seller, even where its name appears on this website or app, payment pages, card statements or messages. It may rely on and enforce the protections given to it under these terms, as explained in 10.4.
1.3 Please read these terms before you order. By placing an order, you accept them. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
2. Placing an order
2.1 To order, add items to your basket, choose any options shown at checkout, check your order and the total price, and pay. You can review and correct your order at any time before you pay.
2.2 The contract between us only forms when we accept your order. Acceptance is recorded in our ordering system.
2.3 We may decline your order before we accept it, for example if an item is unavailable, we can't deliver to your address, a price or description is wrong, we're too busy, or we suspect fraud or misuse.
2.4 After we've accepted your order, we may still cancel it if something outside our reasonable control prevents us fulfilling it, if a price or description was obviously wrong, or if we reasonably suspect fraud.
2.5 If we decline or cancel your order, we'll refund what you've paid for it. Your bank may take a few working days to return the money to your account.
2.6 You must meet the legal minimum age for any age-restricted items you order, such as alcohol. We may require proof of age before supplying those items (see 4.5).
2.7 We'll send you confirmation of your order by email, message or on screen. Please save or print these terms if you'd like to keep a copy. Messages can sometimes be delayed or not arrive, for example because of email filters or a technical problem. If you don't receive one, please contact us before ordering again, as your order may still have been placed. Whether your order has been accepted depends on 2.2, not on whether a confirmation reaches you. These terms are available in English only.
2.8 Our opening hours, menu, prices, availability and delivery area may change, and we may close early or stop taking orders when we're busy. Information shown on this website or app, such as opening hours, availability and estimated times, may sometimes be wrong or out of date, for example because of a technical error. If this means we can't fulfil an order, we may decline it under 2.3 or, where 2.4 allows, cancel it, and we'll refund what you've paid. This includes pre-orders and scheduled orders.
2.9 Special requests, such as "no onions" or "extra sauce", aren't guaranteed, and neither they nor order notes are suitable for managing allergies (see section 5). If an item is unavailable, we may contact you to agree a change, or refund that item.
3. Prices, charges and payment
3.1 Prices include VAT where it applies. Any service charge, delivery charge or other fee is shown alongside our prices and included in the total before you pay, and by placing your order you agree to pay it. A service charge shown on your bill (sometimes called a Service Charge or Customer Service Fee) is our own charge for providing online ordering. It isn't a tip or gratuity, it isn't a charge for table or waiting service, and it isn't passed to our staff. If you'd like to tip, you can do so separately where we offer it.
3.2 If a price on this website or app is wrong, we may decline your order under 2.3, or contact you with the correct price so you can choose whether to continue. If the mistake was obvious, we may cancel the order and refund you, even after accepting it.
3.3 You pay when you place your order, by card or another method shown at checkout. If we let you pay in cash or when you collect, you must pay the full amount when you receive your order. Card payments are processed by our payment provider. You may be asked to show the card you paid with on delivery or collection.
3.4 If we offer vouchers, discounts or other offers, they apply only as their own terms say, can't be exchanged for cash, and can't be combined unless we say otherwise. Unless we say otherwise, each offer is limited to one per customer and household. A personal code we send only to you isn't valid if it's shared publicly, for example on a deals website, and any offer used in bad faith, such as through several accounts, isn't valid. In either case we may cancel the discount or the order. Unless we say otherwise, offers don't apply to delivery charges, service charges, tips or alcohol.
3.5 If you add a tip, it's optional and isn't refunded once your order has been delivered or collected, unless your whole order is refunded.
3.6 If we offer account credit or gift vouchers, they have no cash value and expire on the date shown. We'll only give you credit instead of a refund you're entitled to if you agree.
4. Receiving your order
4.1 Any delivery, collection or serving times we give are estimates.
4.2 If you choose delivery, you must give a correct, accessible address and phone number, and be available to receive your order. You can change your address only before we start preparing your order. If we can't deliver after reasonable attempts because the details are wrong or nobody is available, you'll still pay the full price, because food can't be resold. If you ask us to leave your order in a safe place and we do so, please make sure the location is suitable and secure. We're not responsible for what happens to it after we've left it there, unless the loss or damage was our fault.
4.3 If you choose collection, please collect your order around the time we give you. We can't hold food for long, for quality and safety reasons. If you don't collect your order, you'll still pay the full price, because prepared food can't be resold.
4.4 Your order is your responsibility once it has been delivered, collected or served to you.
4.5 If we sell age-restricted items, such as alcohol, we only sell them to people who meet the legal age, and we may ask for photo ID on delivery or collection. It's an offence to buy alcohol for someone under 18. We may refuse to hand age-restricted items over if we're not satisfied about age or ID, if we believe they're for someone underage, if the person appears intoxicated, if they're not the person who ordered them or another adult at the address, or if the address isn't a home or business. If we do, we'll refund those items, but may deduct a reasonable delivery cost.
4.6 We may photograph your order where we leave it, or record the time of delivery or collection, as proof that it was delivered or collected.
4.7 Hot food should be eaten promptly, or cooled and refrigerated quickly. We're not responsible for food that has been left out, stored or reheated after delivery or collection.
5. Allergies and food information
5.1 If you, or anyone you're ordering for, has a food allergy or intolerance, you must contact us before you order. Please don't place an order until we've confirmed that the items are suitable. If you can't confirm this, don't order.
5.2 Our full allergen information is available from us on request, by phone or in person. Recipes, ingredients and suppliers can change, so always confirm with us before ordering, even if allergen information is shown on this website or app, in our menus or in item descriptions.
5.3 Our kitchen handles ingredients containing allergens, and there may be a risk of cross-contact during preparation. Please contact us before ordering (see 5.1).
5.4 Please don't enter allergy or medical information in order notes or special requests. They aren't a safe way to tell us about an allergy, as they may not be seen in time. Contact us directly before ordering.
5.5 If you're ordering for someone else, you must check with us on their behalf and pass on any allergen information we give you.
5.6 Photos and descriptions are for guidance, and some photos are illustrative and may not show the item exactly as we make it. Portions, presentation and packaging may vary.
6. Cancelling, problems and refunds
6.1 Because food and drink are prepared to order or spoil quickly, you don't have a right to cancel them once we've accepted your order. You may ask us to cancel, and we'll do so if we can, but we may not refund food we've already prepared.
If we sell sealed items that don't spoil quickly, such as bottled drinks, you can cancel those within 14 days of receiving them by telling us clearly, for example by email. You must then return them unopened within 14 days, at your own cost, and we'll refund you within 14 days of receiving them back. You can use this wording if you like: "I cancel my order of [items], received on [date]. [Name, address, date.]"
6.2 You have legal rights if your order is faulty, not as described, incomplete or not delivered, or our service isn't carried out with reasonable care and skill. These terms don't affect them.
6.3 If there's a problem with your order, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, with your order details and photos if you can. Telling us quickly helps us check and put things right, but doesn't limit your legal rights.
6.4 Where you're entitled to a remedy, you'll get the one your legal rights give you, such as a refund of the affected items, a full refund or a replacement. Refunds go back to the payment method you used.
6.5 We may ask for reasonable evidence of a problem, such as photos, packaging or the items concerned. We decide each claim on its evidence, and may take your order and refund history into account in judging that evidence. We may refuse a refund where we reasonably believe a claim isn't genuine.
6.6 Payment disputes. If you're unhappy with an order, please contact us before disputing the payment with your bank or card provider, so we can try to put it right. This doesn't affect your right to dispute a payment. If you do, we may give your bank or our payment provider details of your order, its delivery or collection, our messages with you and your account activity, to respond to the dispute. If you received your order and the dispute is withdrawn or decided in our favour, any amount reversed is still owed to us, to the extent it hasn't already been returned to us, and we may take steps to recover it. Knowingly making a false payment dispute breaks these terms.
6.7 We may refuse further orders from you while a payment dispute is open, or after a dispute we reasonably believe wasn't genuine.
7. Loyalty, offers and competitions
7.1 Loyalty. If we run a loyalty or rewards scheme, you earn points or rewards on qualifying orders as shown on this website or app. Points have no cash value, can't be transferred and expire 12 months after you earn them, or if your account is closed, unless the scheme rules say otherwise. Unless the scheme rules say otherwise, points and rewards are earned only on paid orders placed online while signed in. Points earned on an order that's refunded are removed. Please tell us within a month if your points or rewards look wrong.
7.2 We may change or end the scheme. Where we reasonably can, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a change that reduces your rewards, or before we end it, so you can use points you've already earned. We may remove points earned through fraud, misuse or an error.
7.3 Offers. If we run offers, discounts or promotions, wherever we publish them, including on this website or app, social media, flyers or in messages, they're subject to the terms shown with them and to these terms. Unless we say otherwise:
- we may change or end any offer at any time, without notice;
- an offer only applies if it's live when you place your order, and it's applied at checkout, not afterwards;
- offers can't be exchanged for cash, credit or another reward, and you're not owed anything if an offer has ended or changed, or your order doesn't meet its conditions;
- we don't have to honour an offer that contains an obvious mistake.
Changing or ending an offer doesn't affect orders we've already accepted.
7.4 Competitions. If we run a competition, it has its own rules, including how to enter, the closing date, eligibility, the prize and how the winner is chosen. Those rules apply alongside these terms. Competitions run on social media aren't sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, that platform.
8. Your account and using this website or app
8.1 You may have one account. Keep your login details secure and don't share them. You're responsible for orders placed through your account unless they were placed by someone else without your permission and you couldn't reasonably have prevented it. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account.
8.2 You may use this website or app only to order for yourself and others you're ordering for. You must not misuse it, including by placing false or fraudulent orders, using someone else's payment details, scraping or copying its content, interfering with its security or operation, or using it for any unlawful purpose.
8.3 The content, design and software of this website or app belong to us or the Ordering Provider and their licensors. You may view and print it for your own use only.
8.4 Reviews. If this website or app shows reviews, they must be your own honest experience of an order you placed, and must not be offensive, unlawful, misleading or written for reward. We may remove a review that breaks these rules, including one about an order you didn't place or one that is abusive towards or makes personal attacks on our staff. We may reply to any review publicly. By posting a review, you allow us to show it on this website or app and in our marketing, with your first name or chosen display name.
8.5 We may suspend or close your account, or refuse orders, if you break these terms, misuse this website or app, act abusively or threateningly towards our staff or drivers, make claims or payment disputes we reasonably believe aren't genuine, or we reasonably suspect fraud.
8.6 This website or app may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of problems outside our control. It may contain links to other websites, which we're not responsible for.
9. Our responsibility to you
9.1 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for your legal rights about faulty or misdescribed food and drink, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
9.2 Subject to 9.1, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable.
9.3 We supply our products for your domestic and private use only. We're not responsible for any business losses, such as loss of profit, income or business opportunity.
9.4 We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, power or internet failures, or problems with our suppliers. If we can't fulfil your order because of such an event, we'll refund you.
9.5 The Ordering Provider doesn't run our business or control the products and services we supply. As far as the law allows, it isn't responsible to you for any loss, cost or claim arising from:
- the preparation, quality, safety, ingredients or allergens of our products;
- our menus, descriptions, photos, prices, charges and offers;
- our acceptance, preparation, cancellation, delivery or fulfilment of orders;
- our customer service, complaints, refunds and loyalty schemes;
- information or content we provide, approve or publish; or
- our compliance with the law.
Any claim about these must be made against us. The Ordering Provider doesn't guarantee that this website or app will always be available or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits its liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow it to limit.
10. Changes, privacy, law and courts
10.1 We may update these terms from time to time. The terms on this website or app when you place an order apply to that order.
10.2 Our privacy notice at https://www.georgeschester.online/privacy explains how we use your personal information.
10.3 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to someone who takes over our business. Your rights under these terms won't be affected. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
10.4 The Ordering Provider, meaning the company we use to provide the online ordering system through which you place your order, and its directors, staff, agents and subcontractors, may rely on and enforce sections 1.2, 8.2, 8.3 and 9.5 under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. Nobody else apart from you and us has any rights under these terms.
10.5 If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may communicate with you electronically, by email, message or on this website or app, and that counts as being in writing.
10.6 If you have a complaint, please contact us first. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live. This doesn't take away any protection you have under the law where you live.
